William Palmborg; I knew there were Sturm families in Sweden as well as most Northern and Central European countries. I also knew that there was, and is, a vast number of them in Southern and Western Germany as well as Austria and Switzerland. When I was over there a number of years back I always checked the phone books wherever I was. I was, at that time, not into genealogy very deep. To bad it is not now. The earliest records I have are of Sebastian Sturm, born 1604-1610 and his decendancy to the present. His decendant, and my ancester, arrived in North America in 1726 aboard the ship Mortenhouse. His name was Johann Jacob Sturm and he settled in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania. Some of the ship passenger lists, I have seen, show his last name as Sturm and some show it as Storm. I agree that with an English transcriber, who either missunderstood or could not pronounce the German, wrote it as Storm. Later many of his decendants took up the English name Storm. I have been unable, to this point, of proving up on the parentage of Sebastian. I have found many Sturm families in and around Klein-Schifferstadt but no parentage of Sebastian. It is rumored that he had a brother, Georg, but no valadation of that either. There was a Georg in Klein-Schifferstadt but I have not been able to positively connect. I realize that there is no end to this hobby for there is always another hill in front of you to go over. I am 80 years old and have no idea how many hills I have left to crossover. All I can do is keep walking but slower and slower each day. May you have a good day and the sun shine brightly on you!! Duane Sasser
