    1. Frederick Stump
    2. Macalyne: I assume that the Guice and Gamble books show Frederick Stump Sr's wife as Ann Snavely, right? If so, who was Sarah Swinney? As you know, I am looking for the Sarah Stump who married Alsey Pace in Davidson Co, TN on 8/17/1808. It appears very unlikely to me that Sarah/Sally Stump was a daughter of Frederick, Sr. She was born about 1780 to 1790 when Ann Snavely was over 55. Also she is not mentioned in Frederick's will - the other living children are. I suspect that Sarah/Sally was a granddaughter of Sr and was a daughter of Frederick Stump, Jr. Frederick Jr. had a daughter named Sarah and a son named Jacob. Sally (Stump) Pace and Jacob Stump were listed on a bond as owing the Alsey Pace estate in 1815, after Alsey died in the war. It is known that Jacob's sister Sarah married Philmer Whitworth. But if this marriage took place after 1813 (when Alsey died) she could have been Alsey's wife before she married Philmer. Or perhaps there is another granddaughter of Frederick named Sarah or Sally. Can anyone help resolve this mystery? Gordon W. Pace siriuspace@aol.com
