In a great new book, "Rain, Mud & Swamps" by Gary L. Scheel, a book about the 31st Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment that is well researched and documented. I found the following entry. GIDEON STUMP, a Private from Canaan (Gasconade Co) MO. He died of wounds at Battle of Arkansas Post, Arkansas. This appears to be a brother of my gg grandfather, James Perry Stump and a son of Leonard & Mary Stump (both born in VA) who arrived in Gasconade Co. sometime before 1841.
