Simon's daughter, Elizabeth Stump (b. 9-4-1854) married William Gates (b. 6-20-1853 in Gallia co. OH). Their son (my grandfather) Earl E. Gates was born in 1882 in Burning Springs, Wirt Co, WV). The Gates line is one of my brick walls. If anyone has an information on William Gates (his father is Thomas Gates, listed in the 1850 Wirt Co., WV census at 30 years of age, as Postmaster) and their ancestors I sure would be grateful!!
