    1. Re: Oklahoma Stumps and Ingmires?

    3. Hi Mickey, I have both Stump and Ingmire family from Hocking County, Ohio. Ingmires are from Maryland, look for Thomas and Snowden Ingmire in Anne Arundel County. I'd guess your Ingmire connection went to Oklahoma by way of Texas. Just a guess, but I know of an author named Frances Ingmire who is from Texas. I wrote to her a few times many years ago but never received an answer. However, I still see her books advertised so she's likely still around somewhere. I don't believe she ever wrote about the Ingmires, but that may have been her married name. I presume your Stumps didn't go to Oklahoma from Ohio. I've read of a Frederick Stump who took off from the family farm in Pennsylvania one day and headed south. I've seen his descendants on census in Russell County, VA. Also read that at least part of this Stump branch settled around Nashville where I believe old Frederick was killed by Indians. Since so many of my family members moved on to Texas from Tennessee, it may be a clue. Hopefully you'll pick up the right scent and keep on the trail until you track them down. By the way, my Ingmires and Stumps were from Maryland and Pennsylvania before moving on to Ohio. Good luck with your research. Charla Marchione
