A deed I came across recently, from Montgomery Co, TN shows a 2200 acre parcel of land exchanged hands over the years from Samuel Thornton to Christopher Stump and then to Alsey Pace, the husband of Sally Alice Stump. Alsey was the father of a Christopher Stump Pace. I believe that the above Christopher Stump may have been the Christopher who was the brother of the famous Frederick Stump of Nashville. And I am wondering if Sally Alice could have been this Christopher Stump's daughter. Christopher b 1720 d 1778, spouse unknown, had 3 children that I know of: Leonard b bef. 5/1759, Margaret b 1761 and George b bef. 6/1773. It is believed that Sally Alice Stump was born around 1780, perhaps earlier. Some have shown this Sally (or Sarah) as a daughter of Frederick Stump but I have seen no evidence and she is not mentioned in his will. Does anybody have a clue? Gordon W. Pace
