    1. "SEE" Patriots as found in the DAR Index, c. 1990
    2. Several have asked about sending the SEE patriots to the STUMP list, since so many SEES married STUMPS.. Here is the info I sent last night.. all freshly "cut and pasted" for our group... <G> Ellie Stites Swanger, CO EllieSS@aol.com ====================================================== <<Hi SEE cousins: I am extracting the "SEE" Patriots from the DAR Patriot Index, Vol. 3, c. 1990, p. 2605. If you see any patriot that may be yours, you may want to send for a copy of an application that some dear lady used to become a member. They are about $10 each.. but the references are usually very good. When I request a copy, I always ask for the latest copy that has the most information, especially the children listed.. If possible I ask for the child that I descend from.. but that isn't always possible of course.. I am the AOL Online Coordinator for DAR Lookups and have about 13 women working with me to help inquirees find their patriot. We report to the National DAR office and I have a contact in each state to help anyone find a chapter and to help with DAR applications.. If a patriot isn't listed, it doesn't mean he didn't serve, only that no one has gone in on his line.. That may be for you to do!!! <G> The codes are fairly simple, but just in case: a=before or ante b=born c=about or close to d=death m=married p=after (post) PNSR=Pensioner.. PS=patriotic service.. this could mean the patriot fed the troops, kept them in fresh horses, water, or firewood. It could also mean they housed them, took care of their medical needs.. .. ran errands and was a general all-around "Friday" for the Revolutionary cause.. A woman could be listed as patriot too.. such as Martha Washington. She is listed because she had descendants that have become members.. but George isn't listed, because he and Martha didn't have children.. If you have any more questions, happy to help.. here goes: SEE: Abraham: b 10-1-1753 NY; d 1-4-1813 NY; m. Sarah Storms; Pvt from NY George: b. 1756 VA; d p 1835 MO; m. He was a pensioner!!!! <NOTE: The fact that he was a pensioner if priceless.. It often includes personal family info.. That record would be available from the Nat'l Archives and Trust Fund (NATF). You can order this record on Form 80, which is now available from a website. Also, many genealogy libraries and Family History Centers have the Form 80.> Michael, Sr: b c 1730 VA; d p 1784 VA; m.
