"My mother SARAH SHAW was born in the year 1827, Aug. 12th. She married my father JOHNATHAN STUMP on the last day of January 1850. She died June 4th, 1868. "I will give you the names of their children, they are: "John Stump, who was born June 21st, 1850. He only lived a year and died Feb. 21, 1851. "Mary Ann Stump who was born, June 12, 1852. "Amanda Stump who was born, Apr. 20, 1854. "Alpha Stump who was born Jan. 21, 1859. "Jesse Stump who was born Oct 21, 1856. "Sarah El Nora Stump who was born Sept. 19 1861. She died in the year 1881. "Iry Stump who was born Jan, 21. 1866. He died Feb 21, 1868. "There is only four of their children now living. Mary Ann, Amanda, Alpha and myself. "Mary Ann Bolinger resids [sic] at Gass City Ind. She has six children living and eight grandchildren. "Amanda Ambler has six girls all married, and twelve grandchildren. She lives near Aboite Ind. Alpha Stump resids at Horton Mo. He has six children, five girls and one boy. Two girls are married. One grandchild. "I have three children two boys and one girl. "Trusting my information may be satisfactory, I am, "Very truly yours, "Jesse H. Stump" Now that I've seen more of his handwriting, I can tell that his other typewritten letter bears the signature 'JESSE H. STUMP,' because his capital H's are elaborate enough that they could says Sr, but they really are H's. I have more on these folks that is given in his letter, if anyone wants to claim them.
