My G-g-grandfather, Henry Stump (1799-1801) came to Washinton State, via Willamette Valley Oregon around 1860. He was accompanied by 2 sons, Oliver S, and John Henry, (there may have been a third son also.) and they had Oregon Donation Land Claims. In the 1880, and 1883 census of Washington Territory, both sons stated they were born in Indiana and their father was born in Ohio. It is believed that Henry's wife was named Sarah, but I have found no proof of that. Also it is suggested they came from Dallas Co., Indiana, again I have no proof. Five of John's children were born in Ohio, the other five in either Wash. or Oreg. The census and all records I've found substantiate that. John was born in 1830, and Oliver was born around 1840. Can anyone give me a clue as to where to look for more information. And, can anyone tell me a little more about the Canadian Stumps? Thanks LeRena Stump

Christine: Have quite a bit of info on your branch, would love to fill in the blanks. Thomas Jefferson STUMP is the only child I have listed for Christopher STUMP and Sarah BROOKS. Have Christopher's second wife Rachel SHUTE and their four children John F., Emma, Julia, Mellie but nothing further. Have the children of John STUMP and Rebecca Wilins HYDE, (not sure if that middle name is a typo of Wilkins or actually the correct spelling) along with some birthdates and marriages but not much else. Would like to fill in those blanks also. I have contact with a descendant of Sarah Alice STUMP m: Alsa PACE, the youngest daughter of Frederick STUMP and Anna SNAVELY. Lots of documents sent by the Library in Nashville, TN wonderful people. Photos of Frederick's log cabin home and inn, both from the library records and ones taken by me. Can't wait to share. Allice Reynolds
Alice: I would be very interested in sharing information with you. My line connects at Major Christopher Stump, son of Frederick Stump. Major Christopher Stump had a son - Thomas Jefferson Stump (1804-1852) who married Melinda Tennessee Marshall (1808-1844) of Nashville. Their daughter Julia Ann Stump married William Dean McNish (my g-g grandfather). I sent some obituaries I found to the list on June 20th. I also received some Stump Tennessee marriages from someone on another list. I will post those to the list soon. There is another list member: Macalyne Fristoe who wrote me and she connects at John Stump, son of Frederick. It looks like we can get something going! Look forward to hearing from you.
