Hi, I just received a photograph, dated sometime in the 1800's. The subject of it is 5 generations, and the names on back are as follows, Maud (Fortier) Stump, Laura Creamer, Eveanne Hendricks Benedict, Sarah Jane Benedict Creamer, and the only child in the photo, Leonard Stump. The tree that arrived with it goes back to 1700 Germany, and follows the Kremer-Kramer-Kraemer-Creamer family. The photo came out of Warren County, Indiana, which tends to make me hope the boy belongs to my Stump family line, but this is the first I've heard of a Stump marrying a Fortier. So, I am asking if anyone has heard of this family before, and if you can claim it, with a small bit of evidence, I'll gladly send it on, along with the tree that came with it. Well, I finally received my gr gr grandfather's death certificate from New Castle and it had his parents' names on it. What an exciting day! There were 2 George W. Stump family's in Allegheny County in the 1870 census and, fortunately, I had the death date from the family Bible. I must confess that decided that the wrong one was my ancestor. My George W. Stump was from Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA. I'll list genealogy below but I wondered if anyone knows where there is any information about Tarentum on the internet. Thanks in advance. My ggg grandfather was Alsey Pace of TN who fought in the War of 1812 under the command of Col. Coffey and Capt. Frederick Stump. Does anyone know who this Frederick Stump was? Alsey died in the war in 1815, I don't know how or where - possibly at the Battle of New Orleans. Alsey was married to Sarah "Sally" Stump. Gordon W. Pace siriuspace@aol.com

Do your STUMPs have connection to Franklin Co., PA? I am looking for the parents of Margaret Stump Huffmann (don't know if she was born STUMP or HUFFMAN) who married George MYERS. They were in Franklin Co. PA in 1828 before moving to Franklin Co., OH. Family legend has it that the STUMPs came to PA with William Penn. LeRena, I also have a Lenard/Leonard Stump - census lists b 1799 bp as VA - wife: Mary __?__; children: Elizabeth, James Perry, Mary Jane, Perlina, Thomas Benton, Phoebe Ann, Amanda Mary, Gideon and Dorcus. They moved to Gasconade Co MO around 1835. Do you have info on your Leonard's son, Leonard, Jr. ? Think our Leonards are related? Could KY have actually been VA? In the last issue of Stump digest it was reported that the first wife of Christopher Stump was Susannah Scheutz (or Shuts), who was the mother of the first eight children of Christopher and this info came from the will of Chris's father. NOT SO. The will the info was in is not the father of Christopher, but the will of the father of Susannah Scheutz. Sorry I confused you, Gordon. Doris Weaver

Jan, Malinda Stump was my great great grandmother and she was born in 1821 and died in 1894. Her father was Joseph Stump Sr., born about 1776. His father was Peter Stump, born 1740. Peter had a brother or half-brother named Christopher and this is all I know. I do not know who Peter and Christopher's parents were. Someone was kind enough to send me a GEDCOM file, but it didn't work for me. It was all jumbled, so I don't know what I did wrong. Thanks for any help you can give me.
