Hi List, I am seeking information on the family of Edward Ernest STUMPF(1899-1939) and his wife Eva (SPEARS)STUMPF(1900-1983) of Brooklyn, NY. They had a son named Edward Ernest STUMPF whose wife was RONNI (don't know if first or last name)...and their children were: James STUMPF and Edward STUMPF. Would love to find someone else researching this line. Joanie
Hello List, I am seeking any descendants of the following Stampf line. Not often seen as STUMPF...but one son may have gone with STUMPF due to a mispelling on his birth certificate and he feared a hassle so he just used Stumpf...his sons continued to use Stumpf. Friedrich Stampf and his wife Mathilda arrived in New York approximately 1860 from Germany with their infant son and firstborn: Henry R. Stampf. They had the following children in Brooklyn, NY: Charles b. 1863; Fredrik b. 1865; Augustus b May 1868; Frank b. August 1871; Edward b. August 1872 and Rosa b. March 1876. This according to 1880 Census. On 1900 Bklyn, NY Census, Mathilda is listed as widowed, age 62 and listed with her are August, age 32, S; Frank, age 29, S; Edward, age 27, S; and Rosie, age 24, S. All the males listed as Day Laborers...women show no occupation. Would appreciate any information you may have on this family. Joanie
Is there anyone who can do a lookup for me in the book, "Frederick Stump, The Rest of the Story," by Julia Cook Guice, 1991. I am trying to find evidence that the Sarah (or Sally) Stump who married Alsey Pace was a daughter of Frederick. Or was she a granddaughter? Also, how many wives did Frederick have? I have seen Ann Snavely and Sarah Swinney as his wives but haven't seen the evidence. Thanks, Gordon W. Pace siriuspace@aol.com
LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THE STUMP'S FROM THE STATE OF WASHINGTON. THANK YOU. TAMMY COVEY

MY SURNAME ISN'T STUMP, BUT MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER WAS.. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANYTHING YOU HAVE ON THE STUMPS.. HER GRANDFATHER WAS MY GGG GRANDFATHER, THE ILLUSIVE LEONARD STUMP AND WIFE MARY. THEY ARE FOUND IN FRANKLIN CO MO QUITE EARLY <MID 1830S> AND IN THE GASCONADE CO MO CENSUS IN 1850.. BUT THE DEVIL, I CAN'T IMAGINE WHICH BROOM HE RODE IN ON, NOR FROM WHENCE HE CAME... At present I am typing off a copy of many arrival dates of the early Stump immigrants to North America. They each enclude reference book listings, the immigrants's name, their age, (if known) at the time of arrival, the port of entry, or area. This will be sent as an attachment when I am done, and because I know several who are wary of opening attachments, I will only send it upon request. Also, I have a list of (hopefully) current Stump addresses from all over the world, which I will be glad to share with anyone. All I'll need is a name, and area such as a State. Sorry, no phone numbers. LeRena LERSTUMP@prodigy.net
Looking for info on a Elizabeth Stump who married an Samuel Starr sometime in 1792-1796 in New Hampshire Co., West Va. Thank you for any help you might be able to give to me Diana
Does anyone have a record of an Elizabeth Stump who was born about 1774 and lived in York Co., PA. She married Jacob Mummert about 1795 and lived out her days in the Codorus area of York Co. Any leads would be appreciated. Bob Givens
Thanks for the info, but although I lack details of my Benjamin's birth and ancestry, I do know his wife was Susannah Petry, and his death date on 4-6-1877 in Preble Co. Ohio. The deed book for Codorus Twp. in York Co. Pa notes that Benjamin and Susannah purchased 124 acres of the George Petry farm from his estate, with Susannah's various bros and sisters signing the papers. On Ap 1 1835 they then sold 134 acres in Codorus and emigrated to Monroe Twp. in Preble Co. Ohio. The annual meeting of the German Baptist Brethren was helk on his farm in 1861. He died there (4 months before his wife) at the age of 77. Page 417 and 417a of the book "THREE SONS OF STEFFAN PETRY, 1729-1977" by RUMMEL&RUMMEL notes the above, with a few more details, and shows pics of Benjamin and Susannah in their elder years, as well as the family grave yard on the farm. THE MILLER BOOK (1926) notes some of the intermarriage of the Millers/Petrys and Stumps. However, the birth details and the parentage of Benjamin remain a mystery. I have some upstream data on the Millers, and Petrys but the link to upstream Stumps has eluded me. I do have lists of all of Solomon's 22 children. I have some downstream names from Benjamin's eldest son Samual Corbin Stump' daughter Susan L Stump, who married Isaac Winters Funck, and scattered other lines from Ben and son Solomon. It seems clear they are German or Swiss (one of the original leaders of the Mennonite movement in Switzerland, was a Stumpf). I have hit a stone wall with Benjamin. Thanks for your help. I live in the Napa Valley north of San Francisco if any of you are nearby. Thanks, Edward Stump
I have several Benjamin Stumps, most of this info given to me by others. The ones I have are: Benjamin, born 1786, died 12-29-1861 Benjamin, born 11-16-1806 in Loudon Co., Va., died 4-8-1850 in Iowa Benjamin Cromwell Stump, b. 3-30-1862 Benjamin Dawson Stump, b. 2-14-1814 Benjamin Franklin Stump, b. 3-6-1844 Benjamin Rush Stump, b. 4-25-1844 Let me know if you want any more info on any of the above. Also, I am researching Alderton, Barnhart, Burke, Maloney, Nixon, and some Trues. Thanks. Jill (Lowe3@prodigy.net)

Mother named Margaret, d. in 1877 in Preble Co. Ohio on his farm. Father/ancestors etc. unknown so far. Married Susannah Petry, b. 1897, 7th child of George Petry and Catarina Kaltrieder/Kaltenrieder. Susannah b. York Co. Pa. and both were German Baptist Bretheren , and evidently part of a small close community as the Stumps/Petrys/Millers and Werhleys show up frequently in several generations. Benjamin and family along with some Petrys and Millers moved to Preble Co. Ohio in about 1832-35. from Codorus twp in York Co. Pa........ Children 1. Samuel Corbin Stump. b. 15 Aug 1835/Sarah McFadden 2. Elizabeth Ann Stump. b. ? /Fudge 3. Julia Ann Stump. b. 12 Oct 1830/Clark Marling 4. Mary Ann Stump b. 1832 /Joseph Timmons 5. Benjamin Franklin b. 8 Nov 1845/Lottie Partch 10. Jonathan Corbin b. 17 Mar 1848/Anna Teeter Note that all the males had Corbin as the middle name (Benjamin changed it later to Franklin) and all the females had Ann. Since 90% of York Co. was German, and they were German Baptist Bretheren, we assume the Stump ancestors are German or Swiss, also because the Bretheren church is a variation of the Mennonite/Amish movement of pacifist groups originating with the Anabaptist movement in Switzerland/Germany. Cannot find any reference or hint as to Benjamin's parents surnames..or even proof of his place/time of birth. My line comes through Solomon (who had 22 children). Whatever help/hints/scraps of info is very very greatly appreciated. Thank you, Edward Stump --------------A20AB53F7030EDB798111774-- --------------4CAEDFEEA7BB2FB04BC1CC1E--

Dear Genealogical Friends, Over the last several months of my genealogical quest I have seen a tremendous amount of sharing, caring and compassion from and with my RootsWeb family. Thank you all for this continuing and sincere willingness to give. You are wonderful role models for the rest of the world to emulate; you seem to have the "Spirit of Christmas" all year long. Thank you, for being you. And best wishes to you all. Pryse
