Your John Wilson STROUP is the son of Frederick B. STROUP and Amanda CHARLES. Frederick & Amanda STROUP are in the 1860 census of Juniata Co. I don't have their location in the 1870 census, but Amanda shows up as a widow in the 1880 census of Sadsburyville, Chester Co., PA, with a son, John, age 18.
