I'm searching for any information on my great-grandfather George Stroup b. Oct. 15, 1854 in Rome, Oneida Co., NY, d. Jan. 26, 1917 in Iola, Allen Co., KS, m. Sept. 01, 1879 in Gage Co., Nebraska, Elizabeth Jane Laymon. I have no information on his parents, but I have some possible leads. A few months ago I found a Jonathon W. Stroup b. Mar. 02, 1822 in Columbia, Herkimer Co., NY, d. July 22, 1880 in Lincoln, Lancaster Co., Nebraska, m. Louisa P. Brown who d. May 18, 1876 in Empeyville, Oneida Co., NY. Since they were in Oneida Co., NY, and Jonathon moved to NE after her death, I suspect Jonathon and Louisa are George's parents, but I have not been able to prove it. I have checked the census for 1860-1880 for NY and 1880-1890 for NE, but have not been able to find either George or Jonathon.
