My imigrant ancestors are William Strup and Mary Elizabeth ___________. William came to America in 1737 on the ship Samuel from the Palatine region of Germany. He settled on lands acquired in Berkley County, Virginia (now W. VA). He also acquired lands across the Potomac in Berkley County, MD. Their oldest son, Jacob, migrated South and used the "Stroope" spelling of his surname. Each decendant of Jacob has used that spelling to date. I am currently seeking gravesites of several Stroope ancestors in the East Texas area. I am more than happy to share information with anyone researching the Stroope branch.
