That explains a lot - I hadn't seen that name ever mentioned among my papers (wills, death notices, etc.). If you ever see anything regarding a Phillip Stroup (or Straub) born in 1803 please let me know. He was my Great, Great Grandfather and that's as far back as I have been able to identify. I know the census listing him as "Straub" is correct because it lists his son born in 1840 as James, and that is my great grandfather. My great grandfather was born in Millcreek Township, the town of Fisher, in what is now Clarion Co. I know his father (from the tombstone) was born in 1803 but doesn't say where. Oral tradition from there said Phillip's family came from Mifflin Township. Any help would be appreciated.
