My Grandfather, Frederick W. Stroup was born in Union County, PA., and I cannot find any bona fide info on his parents or beyond! It seems as if the 'early' Stroup's did not want to leave any trace. I had no trouble getting Frederick's Civil War Records, I know when and where he was married and where he and my Grandmother lived during the course of their life together, but that is it! Good luck in your endeavor!

    1. Re: Stroup Mystery
    2. Hi: A good many members of my family were from Michigan but none in lumber. My grandfather Stroup (Shirley) was a barber. My Uncle Robert (Geisinger) spelled his name Stroupe and insisted my grandmother do the same. Yours and my Stroups/Stroupes are probably not related. My Aunt June (Stroup), since deceased, was never employed, as far as I know. She married her childhood sweetheart, Vincent Heim, who had been the postmaster general of Coldwater, Michigan. Cheers

    1. Re: MICHAEL STROUP
    2. I am also researching the Michael Stroup line. I have some info but always looking for more. I have already sent a reply to Robert from an earlier posting, to see what info he has. I realize that your original msg is a couple of years old and hope you get this reply. Both you and Robert indicate that Michael and Anthony settled in Lynchburg. My info has them in New Market in Highland Co. and later in Dodsonville. There is a Stroup Cemetary in Dodsonville where many of our descendants are. Hope to hear from you soon. My e-mail is [email protected]
