Hello All! As some of you are aware, for more than a year Martha, Russell, BoB and I have been wrestling with a project which involved development of an image map which could be used to "route" visitors to the various websites on the Strong Genealogy Network. Martha initially created several designs which were circulated to this group, discussed and revised. Then Russell and I spent several hours trying to write the HTML codes required to make the respective images selected into image maps. As a rank amateur, I took a couple of attempts at the large image map without success. Finally, last month, I turned to my son, Matt Strong, who is in charge of Information Services, Children's Hospital in Seattle. Matt was able to help me with the HTML coding involved, and thanks to him, we now have a working image map! Utilizing a previous HTML page originated by BoB, a new webpage was developed to implement the image map. The image map has been placed on a new site maintained by me at my local server, Northumberland Online Services. The reasons for this are 1) to avoid the advertising popups on my regular Geocities site, and 2) ease of access for revisions when necessary. The URL of the site is: http://www.nhb.com/dbstrong/sgnhome.htm When you visit this site, you will find the image map will take you to any of the various websites which currently make up the Strong Genealogy Network. You will also find a discussion of the various Websites. Please note the smaller Red, White, and Blue SGN "flag" button. You can also vary the size of the gif image by changing the height and width values in the above codes. The sizing is in "pixels", not inches.... so guestimate according to your own desires in this regard. Note two: you will need to capture a copy of the sgnlogo7.gif image and install it on your website as well. (Right click your mouse pointer on the image, and choose "Save the Picture" as "sgnlogo7.gif"). Contact me for assistance if needed.
