Hello Wilma, I have a book which mentions Strongs that were around Granville, Washington County, NY, Isle La Motte, VT and Wisconsin. I don't see the tie to Lydia just now - but I send the information just in case. The book is History of the Town of Isle La Motte Vermont by Allen L. Stratton. Stratton has proved to be a very reliable researcher for that area of VT. Here is what it says on page 417: Circa 1807, SETH STRONG, Jr. and family settled in Isle La Motte. He was a son of Deacon SETH STRONG Sr and LOIS (STRONG) STRONG. SETH STRONG, Jr was born 26 June 1743 at Northhampton, MA. He married DEBORAH BUTTLER, born 13 Oct 1749. They were married 12 Oct 1768 at New Marlboro, MA. It is said that he was a Rev War soldier. They had at least eight children - SETH, b 1771, CYNTHIA b 1772, CHAUNCEY b 1774, LUTHER b 1777, JOEL, b 1779, SOPHIA, b 1781, NATHAN, b 1783, and ALLEN B. B 1787. Circa 1790, we find SETH STRONG Jr and family settled in the Town of Granville, Washington Co, NY (US Census). Here his daughter CYNTHIA STRONG married on 1 Aug 1790 Capt CALEB HILL and they settled in Isle La Motte in 1803. (See HILL family in this book). SETH STRONG, Jr and family remained in Isle La Motte only briefly - 1807-1809. Where did they go? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SETH Jr and DEBORAH (BUTTLER) STRONG had a son LUTHER STRONG, b 11 Oct 1777 at Northhampton, MA. He married, 1796 in Washington Co, NY ABIBAIL WOODRUFF (1780-1873). They had at least eleven children - CALVIN b 1787, LOIS b 1801, MOSES b 1803, ORANGE W. b 1806, AMANDA b 1808, CYNTHIA b 1810, LUTHER A b 1812, and ABIGAIL, GEORGE W. CAROLINE, and RHODA. (Family records state they had nineteen children in all). LUTHER STRONG and family are settled in Isle La Motte as early as 1804, probably coming with Capt CALEB HILL and family in 1803. About 1814, LUTHER STRONG and family left Isle La Motte and moved back to Washington Co, NY, thence to Allegany County, NY. By 1830 they are in Potter Co. PA. LUTHER STRONG died 28 Nov 1857 and is buried in Dulalia Cemetery, Coudersport, Potter Co, PA. __________________________________________________________ SETH Jr and DEBORAH (BUTLER) STRONG had a son NATHAN STRONG b 20 May 1783 at (prob.) Northampton, MA. He married, 7 Aug 1805 at St Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Montreal, Canada SALLY WESTOVER b 5 March 1790 in Caldwell's Manor, Lower Canada. They had fourteen children, six sons and eight daughters. We list only those known - ELIZABETH b 1807, WILLIAM D. b 1808, SETH G. b1809, CHAUNCEY BUTLER b 1812, NATHAN H. b 1813, SARAH b 1816. NATHAN STRONG and family are settled in Isle La Motte as early as 1807. Here they remained until 1823/24, when they removed to Franklin County, NY and later to Wisconsin. NATHAN STRONG died 4 Aug 1862. His wife died 12 Aug 1852, both at Berlin, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. I hope this info will help someone. I am interested in a NATHAN STRONG who was a building contractor with the firm of MOTT, STRONG and MOTT. I am a descendent of these Motts. These three built the Courthouse in Grand Isle County, VT in 1824. It was an outstanding building still in existence today.
