John Wolcott of Jewett, Green, NY, b. in Wallingford, CT. Children Julia Wolcott, m. Mr. Ward of Fitchville, Huron, OH. Alonzo age 7 and Luzerne age 4 go to CT. c. 1814 when father died. Alonzo b. 1805, returns to Ohio about age 12, c. 1817 Luzerne b. 1810 stays in Ct. age 7 marries in Wallingford, CT. Eliza b. aft 1810 ( prob. infant that died in Sep. 1814) I think your family story got confused and that Abigail left later than 1810 more like 1812 and took Elizabeth with her or she was pregnant when she left. When both parents died the boys were sent home to CT., The people in Ohio may not have known that Abigail was dead and believed they were sending the boys to their mother. I believe they went to their grandparents. The only one that fits your family story is Medad and Hannah. The boys lived with Medad and Hannah until Hannah's death in 1817 when Alonzo goes back to Ohio at age 12. Luzerne stays in CT. and later marries in Wallingford. He probably lived with his Aunt Hannah and her husband John Wolcott who had family ties in Wallingford thus Luzerne meets his wife. Alonzo names a daughter Julia not after his stepmother but after his cousin Julia Wolcott, dau. of Hannah Strong Wolcott who later moves to Fitchville, Ohio. Medad had an unknown child Sally who d. in 1797 grave #869 Abigail Crane, was bur. 1814 grave #870. Notice the discrepancy between the burial dates. Others of this family died in between those dates but no one was buried there, I think the graves were originally planned for Medad and Hannah but were used for Sally and Abigail. Do you know more about Ira? What is the date of Sandusky Attack? You and Alice are going to have a great family story to tell when this is all done. Martha
