Hi all. Just have some "filler" information about this couple. John is the grandson of John Strong Jr., son of Josiah Strong (son of "Elder" John Strong). It just so happens that his wife is a relative of mine as well! Abijahia Chappel b. 19, Oct 1704 in Lebanon CT was the dau of Caleb Chappel and Ruth ROYCE Chappel. Ruth was b. April 1669 in CT to Jonathan ROYCE (b. 1631) and his second wife, Deborah CALKINS. Jonathan and Deborah were married in Jun of 1660. Jonathan was a son of Robert ROYCE b. ca 1610 - immigrant from Martock, SOMERSET in the early 1630's. In addition to the family "starting points" being near one another, the Royce family (later changed to Rice) dwelt in the same area as many of our Strong branches. Places like Wallingford, Lebanon and Norwich CT in the 1700's as well as in upstate NY in the 1800's. I always like to have as much information as I can get and I have also seen plenty of references to the CALKINS family in connection with STRONGS so, I thought I would pass it on.
