Hi All, As most of you know Orville N. Strong (s/o 4728 Nathan s/o 4710-1 Henry C. s/o 4648 Hon. Nathan) mother died when he was 6 years old. I have wondered for years who raised him. In re-reading his journal I have it now. On January 30, 1919 he writes "See account of Henry Shepards death in the paper another one gone. Henry seems more like my parent. Lived so many years with him. Am glad I had chance to see him when did. did not seem to be same last time there 2 years ago. Henry and self done many a days work and outing together. Hope Addie will get along ok and that children will use her well." On four generations you will find 4724-5. iii. Harriet Eliza Strong d/o Henry Chauncey Strong, Durham, CT. m. Clark Vandervoort of Rodman, Jefferson,Co., NY in 1850 they removed to Lawerance, Van Buren Co., MI. Their eldest child was 4735-6. i. Adelaide (ADDIE) Medora Vandervoort b. 4/24/1845 m. Henry Shepherd in 1865. This is the Henry Shepard Orville Nathan Strong is referring to in his journal.
