As I interpret the data from the other records I found, my Thomas would have been married at least by 1804. If the war lasted as long as you say, he could have served as a single man from any time from 1891 until he was married about 1804. You did not find any Thomas STRONG in the Index from North Carolina then, right? I have never used the National Archives for anything. What records should I check?
