    3. Attention: Connie Corbett-Whittier! Re the below message, do you know ANYTHING about where in Ireland your ancestor James Strong was born? Where he and Prudence Elliot were married? Where in Ireland John Strong was born? What their religion was? (I know it sometimes seems an intrusive question to ask what their religion was... but it can be a critically important clue in tracing them in Ireland).... Do you have ANY anecdotal clues? Can you share your info on the Strong-List, please????!!! We Irish Strongs can always use more research help in trying to trace our ancestry in Ireland.... and yes, we collectively ARE nice folks {:-)! And, by the way, since the various Strong families found in Ireland are undoubtedly of English or Scottish descent, and were probably "planted" in Ireland about the same time as the Virginia Strongs and New England Strongs were being planted in the New World, we are of equal "standing" as an important genealogical research group... and are probably related to the various "Johns", senior and junior of Virginia and "Elder" of New England... just a little farther back. The point here is that if we could trace everything we would like to be able to trace, we would probably find we all connect back in England. Unfortunately, I think too many people think that all they can do is trace their ancestry back to whomever "came over to America/Canada/Australia/New Zealand/Africa/India or where-ever on the boat". For some folks, it IS possible to trace ancestry back further into Ireland and England or Scotland... There ARE clues out there, in local records, in Irish records and in English and Scottish records. We just need to keep digging, sharing, interpreting, and collating clues until the picture comes together! And, we all need to keep the BIG PICTURE in mind... the clues are world wide, not just on your particular side of the ocean. Since becoming involved in the Strong-List, I have seen clues gathered by folks in England, Ireland, America, and Australia tie together to form a family group... and some of it was tied together as a result of the Strong-List being in existance. Welcome to the list, Connie! I hope the foregoing has not turned into too much of a "lecture", and that it will encourage you to keep on digging! I also hope as time goes on we will hear more from you, as well as the other "Irish" Strong researchers on the list! I invite all to visit my website, READ the manuscript (which I hope helps point the way to conducting research in Ireland), and join in the work! Regards, David B.
