I'm not sure if it's possible to get a copy of a marriage certificate, as he was married in Dade County, May 23, 1844, and my Handy book says that they only have marriage records from 1845 on. What do you do in that case? He also joined the Methodist Church in that year. Are there sometimes church records from that period, and if so, how in the world do you find them?
