=============================================================== Enough has been said about the Starr Report! Please cease and desist further discussion of this topic. Bill Garcia's (aka Bill Strong's) message was technically out of bounds, but I feel was posted in the spirit of providing a service to any interested subscribers to the Strong Mail List. As the Co-Manager of the Month (aka "Moderator") I did not feel a compulsion to respond to this one-time-only exception to the published Standing Operating Procedures. Repeated violations by the same person will result in counseling by the Moderator. My personal policy in the past has been to provide private counseling and if that fails then to provide public counseling. As a last resort, a subscriber who refuses to follow established procedures and policies will be removed from the Mail List and prohibited from posting messages. This has never happened to date. Let's move on toward our common goal of sharing data about persons named Strong, including all graphic, phonetic, and etymologic variants of the name. If you have data about Strongs that would be of interest to more than one subscriber to the Mail List, please post it here. It it is of interest to only one other subscriber, please send the message privately. If it doesn't pertain to Strong, et al., family history or genealogy, please do not post the message on the Strong Mail List. As a general rule, please allow the designated Co-Manager of the Month to intervene as necessary to moderate disputes, flaming, violations of procedures, etc. I am proud to say that in the three year history of the Strong Mail List the discussion group had remained very focused and goal oriented. "Violations" and incidents of disputes or flaming have been niminal. The most frequent "violation" observed has been not giving messages a descriptive and accurate Subject LIne. Subject lines should communicate Who, Where, and When. When you Reply to a message, please ensure that the Subject is descriptive of the content in YOUR message, not the content of the original message to which you are replying. A reminder to all: the Rootsweb server will not accept messages that contain Rich Text Format, also known as HTML Code, and will not accept messages with attachments. New subscribers, especially, need to be aware of this. If you are having problems with the set up for your Message Editor, please privately contact one of the experienced Co-Managers, such as myself or Russ Laird <[email protected]>. As a general rule, your Message Editor should be set for ASCII Text format, 7 bit transfer encoding (avoid Quotable-Printable encoding), and with line lengths (word wrapping) set for 65 or fewer characters. Wishing you all good health and happiness and successful searches!!! Robert T.
