Hello one and all. I sent for my grandfather's SS app about a month ago and received it yesterday. For those who have had a long wait, I don't know what to suggest. I was very pleased that it only took a month to get it. So now I have to get down to work again. Up till now, I have been looking at Chilicothe, Ohio which is where I was told my grandfather was born. Wrong answer. He was apparently born in Wilkesville, Ohio to Horatio Benton STRONG m. Allie FOSTER. Does anyone have any information on this union? According to the application, he (my grandfather Harley Franklin STRONG) was born on Mar. 23, 1901. He applied for his SS card at the age of 35 when he was a watchmaker for Claude S. Bennet Jewelers in Atlanta. He went on from there to open his own shop in Galveston, Texas somewhere around 1950 and stayed there until his death in 1975. The last time I saw him, I was only 7 years old, so I don't have much other information and my father has long since passed away. If anyone has any information, please contact me. Thanks so much.
