============================================================= Hi All, If you haven't checked out [the Social Security Death Index page at Ancestry HomeTown] website recently, give it another look. http://www.ancestry.com/ssdi/advanced.htm They have a free Social Security Index and new link that takes the name and social security number you choose and automatically inserts it into a form letter to send to the Social Security Administration. All you have to do is sign it and put it in an envelope with a $7.00 check and you're in business. I was quite impressed. It's free and a great service to all researchers! Sherri ============================================================= I have amended Sherri's letter, above, to include the complete URL for the SSDI Advanced Search at Ancestry HomeTown.. The hotlink to the letter that is mentioned does not appear until you do a search and the "hits" (positive results of your search) are displayed on the monitor. Following is a copy of the form letter. I was searching for Guy Strong. When I clicked on the hotkey for "Write Letter" [or whatever, located at the right end of the line of information about your "hits"], the appropriate data for that indivudual was automatically entered into the form. As Sherri said: All you have to do is add your signature and address, print the letter, prepare an envelope, prepare a check for $7.00, then mail the letter with attached check. I suspect that an Internet search for "FOIA Workgroup" will produce the correct URL that was previously mentioned. Just adding the double backslash did not fully correct the URL, at least not when I tried it (before I received Bob W.'s message). "BoB T." Robert T. Strong, Jr. 119 Mystic Way Madison, AL 35757-8801 P.S.: Hi, Sherri in Alaska! Thanks for your useful input. It is still quite hot in North Alabama. Record temperatures the past several days and not a drop of rain from "Georges". We are experiencing a fairly long drought. Many plants that were not well rooted did not survive the summer. But who are we to complain! We are blessed because it is not flooding as on the Gulf Coast. To ALL: If your computer is equipped with all the multimedia bells and whistles, you might enjoy visiting this site for a few relaxing moments. Unfortunately, my computer displayed only the text, but that alone was worth the visit. http://angelfire.com/ak/olly/lake5.html ============================================================== Social Security Administration Office of Central Records Operations FOIA Workgroup P.O.
