    3. =============================================================== ATTENTION: Megan Scott In addition to satisfying my own curiosity and extending my personal knowledge of Strongs of Virginia, one of the advantages of identifying which Strong in Virginia was the brother of John Strong (Jr.) of Chester County, Pennsylvania, is that it opens up for you a different avenue of research. Who are the descendants of James Strong of Augusta and/or Rockbridge Counties, VA? What do THEY know about their Strong ancestry? Were there any Strong family records that were handed down in that line? The same logic could be applied to Sallie Strong Bush, sister of John Strong, Jr., of Chester Co., PA, and James Strong of Augusta Co., VA, if this Bush family can be located in Virginia. There were quite a few Bush families in Virginia in 1810, including several Bush families that were enumerated in Augusta Co., VA. Interestingly there was a household listed as "Salley Bush" with no free whites and five slaves. That seems rather strange. One interpretation is that the slaves had been owned by Salley Bush, who had recently died, and the estate had not yet been settled. See Page 398 of the Augusta County 1810 census. Check Augusta County probate records and deeds for Sallie or Salley Bush for the period prior to and immediately after 1810. Have you considered the possibility that your John Strong, Sr., may have traveled first to Virginia and then relocated to Pennsylvania? You might want to study the deed and grant abstracts in CAVALIERS AND PIONEERS, Volume IV, which includes the colonial period just before the Revolution, I believe. There is an excellent index of full names and also place names. Check particularly for deeds and patents to and headrights for John Strong in Orange County, VA, from which Augusta County evolved, I think. Check also for headright grants to or including John Strong in Maryland and Pennsylvania. "BoB T." Robert T. Strong, Jr. 119 Mystic Way Madison, Al 35757-8801
