Dear Tracy and all, Thanks - James Moores Strong was my great-grandfather, on whom I have the 'essential' information, although we're stuck on everything/everyone beyond his father William, except that family tradition says they are of English origin. I though I should post these two notes on other STRANG(E)s I have found who have been recorded in Newfoundland's history as well: >From "When Was That" by H.M. Mosdell: J.C. STRANG, born at Eaglesham, England; came to Newfoundland in 1877; died Jan. 23, 1909 aged 51 years. And from "Ecclesiastical History of Newfoundland" by Rev. M.F. Howley: "In 1593 Richard STRANGE, of Apham, made a voyage [to Newfoundland] with the intention of prosecuting the seal fishery. He made his headquarters at Ramea, on the southern coast."
