A search program has been installed on the main pages of my two "home pages" on the Renaissance Online server. THE STRONG QUEST: http://ro.com/~rts2/quest THE STRONG-GOSSAGE ANCESTRAL DATABASE: http://ro.com/~rts2/ancestry Note that this applies only to my home pages at Renaissance. For the mirror pages at Tripod, a Pod Search is provided by Tripod. I am greatly indebted to my friend, Wes Coleman <[email protected]> for his programming assistance. Wes installed a search program on his own genealogy web site so I asked if he could assist me to do the same. Some modification were required to adapt the program to my directory structure. Here is Wes' Coleman genealogy page. Scroll down the frame on the left side of the page to find the search feature. http://ro.com/~coleman/genealogy.htm At present the searches are not case sensitive. Wes is motivated to improve the program to make the searches case sensitive. If you have ever searched the Internet for the surname Strong you know how frustrating it is to have every adjective "strong" and every HTML code <STRONG> reported as hits. But with Case Sensitive searches you have to search each possible spelling, such as Strong and STRONG. [Some search engines permit you to exclude the adjective by entering "+Strong -strong" or "Strong not strong".] I will be editing the titles to my WWW pages to make them more descriptive. The titles generated by Family Origins for Windows are non-descript refences to the Generation number in an Ancestry Chart or Descendancy Chart. I hope you will enjoy this enhancement to my web site.
