Diana Matthiesen recently reported in a message to The Strong Mail List: >The Disciples of Christ (Christian Church) has an historical society with a web page: > http://users.aol.com/dishistsoc/index.html ================================================================ In an earlier messge Benjamin Dwight was quoted as referring to Rev. William Hardin Strong (b. 1809) of Illinois as a "Campbellite" minister. I suggested he was possibly a minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Replies to the Strong Mail List and my further inquiry indicates that appears to be correct. I thought perhaps there was some more information about Rev. William Hardin Strong at the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, located in Nashville, Tennessee. My attempt to log onto the URL above was not successful, but omitting the /index.html/ worked fine. Aha! the address should be "index.htm" rather than "index.html". I checked the biographical file at this URL: http://users.aol.com/dishistsoc/bio.htm >From that page you can search alphabetical pages, such as: http://users.aol.com/morganpm/s.htm There were nine Strongs listed on this page, but no William Hardin Strong. Blanche C. Riley Charles Walter (1925-1973) Edwin B. (1912- ) Francis Wilburn (1883-1951) Homer Anderson (1903-1946) Julia Deen (1904- ) Minnie Frances Hutcherson Tracy Also, Arthur D. Strongman. Research fees are charged for assisted searches of the records. See this URL: http://users.aol.com/dishistsoc/feesheet.htm For Society members ($20 year), there is no charge for unassisted research except photocopying charges. "BoB T." Robert T.
