I finally found the parents of Nathan D. Strong in Somersett township, Hillsdale Co MI. They are Ashur T. Strong b. 1818 in NY & his wife , Harriet b.1827 in NY. Their children were : Helen E. b. 1847 in Michigan Nathan D. b. 1851 in Michigan Harriet L. b. 1855 in Michigan Richard A. b. 1861 in Michigan Ashurt T. Strong enlisted in the Michigan 18th Infantry, Company G & died October 2, 1862 in Covington, KY. He is buried in the National Cemetery in Lexington, KY. After his death his widow & Nathan D., Hattie(Harriet L.), & Richard A. moved to Grass Lake, Jackson Co. MI. Richard A. is listed on the 1880 Census for Cedar Rapids, Linn Co. Iowa. He died in 1890 & is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On the 1840 Somersett township, Hillsdale Co. there are several Strongs listed - Amos, Daniel, David, Samuel & Seth. An entry on FamilySearch has Daniel Strong & Nancy Torrance as the parents of Ashur T. Strong. Does anyone on the list have any information on this family or on these New York Strongs?
