I am looking to make contact with William Newby, (formerly?) of Huntsville AL who has done considerable research on the family of William Strong. If anyone can assist, it will be most appreciated. Thank you, Marshall Styles

Have to agree that the Flower Memorial Library is a great place to visit. Mrs. Perkins has been very helpful to us. The two Barnes books, (with Strongs in it) which we put together (One in 1994 and the other in 2001) were purchased by the Flower Memorial Library. Fred and Edna Barnes, Fairfield, CA

My web page has just been put on-line and deals with my STRONG family in Drumbo, Holywood and Knocknagoney, Belfast, New Zealand and NSW Australia. The address is: "STRONGs of Ulster, Ireland" http://www.pnc.com.au/~plstrong/ My thanks to members of the list who have helped me in the past in research on my family. I hope that listers might now look at the webpage and perhaps write to me with comments or even additional information. The idea is that after a period of feedback from the website and further research, I will ultimately publish a much expanded print version. Hi, I didn't state the generations correctly. When I said "I wonder if this could be his father" I meant Clifton's father, not Clay's. Sharon
Dear List, It has been some time since I have participated. I have new information on my husband's family and hopefully this time someone on the list will identify with this branch of the Strong family and come to my aid. I had been able to trace back to a Clay Strong who lived and died in Floyd County, VA. Census records stated that his parents had been born in VA, also. My newly acquired information shows Clay"s parents in Campbell County, VA. On the 1850 census for Campbell County it shows a family headed by Clifton L Strong age 28 with his wife and two sons, One is Oden C age five and the other son is Zacheriah age four. I know this is the correct family because I just received information on Clay Strong's cemetery records that state he was born in 1845, that his name was O C (Clay) Strong. He died in 1891, the year his last child was born, a son named Oden. Also, in Campbell County on the 1850 census there is a Thomas Strong who was born either in 1792 or 1793 (depending upon when the census was taken). I wonder if this could be his father? Another Strong in Campbell County on the 1850 census is a William Strong who was born either in 1819 or 1820. My Clifton L Strong was born either in 1821 or 1822. I wonder if they could be brothers? All three are from the same district in Campbell County. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Sharon Strong
Burton Spear, who many of us have used for research on our Mary & John ancestries especially Strong. Died today. Martha

Hi, Wherever the virus is coming from, I don't know, but within the last week and a half I've received at least 30 e-mails with a .zip attachment that contain a virus. There is a .zip virus going around now that is gaining in momentum, so heads up. There is a fix on the Norton site in case anyone mistakenly opens the .zip file. The .zip file can be named anything. The following is taken from: RootsWeb Review: RootsWeb's Free Weekly E-zine Vol. 5, No. 17, 24 April 2002 ------------------------------------- 2b. KLEZ WORM WIGGLES ACROSS THE NET. No, RootsWeb.com is not sending you a virus or worm in an attachment -- no matter what these "forged" addresses with RootsWeb name in it say. Be sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date and that you use it. Never open any e-mail attachments unless you have confirmed with the sender that she or he did indeed send it to you for a reason. Do not assume that the attachment came from where it says -- these sophisticated worms are able to forge addresses and they are fooling lots of people. Some even claim to be "worm removal tools." Don't believe them. The Klez worm has been able to spread because of a security vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer (browser) and because many people do not update their browser and download these patches. Don't risk the loss of your personal and genealogical data: Update your browser now: [2-line URL]: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ q290108/default.asp/ Most antivirus vendors, such as Symantec, McAfee and Sophos, offer Klez patches.
