I've "rescued" a group of three photographs all belonging to the family of Madison ROYER of Pennsylvania. Based on limited research I was able to gather some information regarding this family and have included it along with details of each of the photographs below: Madison W. ROYER and wife (formerly Miss DONDORE), taken at the John D. Strunk's Studio in Reading, PA, likely taken in the 1880's, couple in their 30's Madison ROYER'S daughter, taken at the John D. Strunk's Studio in Reading, PA, likely taken in the 1880's, girl about 4 years Madison ROYER'S son, taken at the John D. Strunk's Studio in Reading, PA, likely taken in the 1880's, boy about 3 years Madison W. ROYER b. 15 Mar 1848 in Lancaster Co. PA to parents Jonas ROYER (b. 24 Dec 1821 in Manheim, PA) and Catherine WOLF (b. 2 Nov 1820 or 1830 in Ephrata, PA). The couple had 4 children including Madison W.; Simon W.; Clement W.; and Salinda ROYER all born between 1848 and 1852 in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, PA. Madison married Amelia DUNDORE (b. 14 Oct 1855 in Womelsdorf, PA). Amelia was the daughter of Samuel E. DUNDORE (b. 1 Feb 1827 in Penn Township, PA) and Rebecca STRAUSE (b. 22 May 1833 in Bethel Township, PA). Madison and Amelia had 11 children including, Ida Rebecca; Clayton D.; Catherine D. "Katie"; Samuel D.; Wayne D.; David D.; Annie D.; Adam D.; Harry D; Jonas D.; and Milton D. ROYER all born between 1877 and 1898 likely all in Lebanon Co. PA. Census records provide the following: 1860 census of Shaefferstown, PA: Jonas ROYER, age 38, a Farmer, born PA Catharine ROYER, age 32, born PA Magdalena ROYER, age 12, born PA (I believe this is actual Madison ROYER) Simon ROYER, age 11, born PA Clemen ROYER, age 9, born PA Salinda ROYER, age 8, born PA + 2 Farm Laborers and 1 Servant 1870 census of Heidelberg Township, PA: Jonas ROYER, age 48, a Farmer, born PA Catharine ROYER, age 42, Keeping House, born PA Madison ROYER, age 22, a Farm Laborer, born PA Simon ROYER, age 21, a Farm Laborer, born PA Clement ROYER, age 19, a Farm Laborer, born PA Salinda ROYER, age 18, at Home, born PA + 1 Domestic Servant I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their care.
