    2. Hi Diane, Many, many thanks for your inquiry from the UK. I guess there must not be that many "Strauss folks" left out here, or at least not many interested in Genealogical Research? In any event, I could certainly after 20-30 years of research use help in researching my ancestors in the 19th century. I have very good documentation for my anecestor David Strouse in NYC with his wife Caroline and two sons (Jacob and Jonas) as documented in the 1860 US Federal Census. I even have a rare recorded birth certificate for son Jacob in 1857 in NYC. I believe the father David died around 1870 of TB. Between 1860-70 I believe a third son David was born. While I have good documentation of my great grandfather Jacob (Jake Strauss) Strouse up until his death in Kansas in the 1940's, I have no further documentation on his two brothers or his mother. I would greatly appreciate any help offered. 3. Dear Leandro, I have for some time been trying to research my family tree, but been unsuccessful in finding out anything about my ancestry before my paternal grandfather, JOHANNES JACOB STRAUSS. My father, DOUGLAS STRAUSS, became estranged from his father shortly before the beginning of the second world war. He was only six or seven years old at the time, and has subsequently never been much interested in tracing the family history of a man against whom he still bears a grudge for abandoning him, his brothers and sisters, and their mother. As a result, I know almost nothing about my grandfather, apart from the fact that he had a brother called HENDRIK (or HEINRICH) and that he lived on a farm called Mooigesicht (where my father was also born) in the district of Vryheid, in the old province of Natal, South Africa. How my branch of the Strauss family came to be in South Africa, I don't know, as we are completely unrelated to the most common branch of the Strauss family, who can trace their origins back to Georg Friedrich Strauss, who came to the Cape in 1723, on the ship "Adelaar", from Strassburg, Germany. I am very excited about the possibility that we (you and I) might be related in some way. I am especially intrigued by how much the picture of you on your blogspot resembles the only photograph that I have ever seen of my grandfather. Please find attached a jpg file of my 37 marker DNA profile for comparison. Looking forward to hearing from you again. 3. I have to find more information about JACOB STRAUSS, born on 12/10/1804, in Weltersbach, and emigrated to Brazil in 1826, from Bremen with the ship Creole. More data on http://br.geocities.com/leandro.strauss Below, messages related to the subject, taken from this discussion group. Thank you, -- Leandro Strauss Blog: http://leandrostrauss.blogspot.com/ Fotos: http://picasaweb.google.com.br/helenastrauss Hello Fellow Listoers Wondering if any of you have a connection with: Johannes Strauss, b 1758 and his wife, Elisabetha Katherina Mueller. (They were the parents of Heinrich, b 1810 in Weltersbach. who married Maria Philippina Schroer, daughter of Johann Schroer and Katharina Hammel from Katzenbach) Johannes Strauss' father was Johann Nickel Strauss, b in Rehweiler and was the first of the Strauss name in Weltersbach. His wife was Elisabetha Margaretha Pfeiffer of Weltersbach. Thank you, Ruth Strausz Curtis I hope that the Johann Strauss Nickel is father or grandfather of Johann Jacob (or only Jacob) Strauss, born in 1804 in Weltersbach. Reportedly a descendant of Johann Nickel with name Jacob? Jacob migrated to Brazil in 1826. >From where you have this information that he is the first in Weltersbach Strauss? It is very important to me. In my family tree is Anna Maria Pfeiffer, born in 1773 in Niedermohr, married with Johann Nicolas Blauth, born in 1772 in Weltersbach. Some connection with Elisabeth Margaretha Pfeiffer? It could take a look at the site and see http://br.geocities.com/leandro.strauss is some connection. There are all data from the Jacob Strauss. Thank you can add any data. Thanks, Deborah, I also have an ancestor named Jacob Strauss, born in 1804 in Weltersbach. Migrated to Brazil in 1826. Any connection is? You have something to help me. 3. Dear Deborah, Yes, I do believe we have a match, just how, at the moment ??, thank you for writing and replying. Let me put my thoughts together and I will write another letter in a bit--but if your family is from Weltersbach, we are related. There are still Strauss families there and one is the mayor. (at least, was a few months ago) Ruth. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deborah Deal" <deal@clover.net> To: <STRAUSS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 30, 2005 11:34 AM Subject: RE: STRAUSZ-MUELLER-PFEIFFER-SCHROER > I have a Jacob STRAUSS from Weltersbach whose grandfather I believe is > Johannes. 3. I have a Jacob STRAUSS from Weltersbach whose grandfather I believe is Johannes. I've just returned from Salt Lake City and copied the Weltersbach records onto CD. It's not easy for me to translate the records but slowly, I'm getting through them. Jacob married Maria Elizabetha INGBERT. Their children were Johannes(which I believe went by the name Michael), Nicholas, Barbara, Katherina, Phillipina, Maria Elizabetha. Nicholas, Barbara, Katherina (my great, great grandmother) and Phillipina immigrated to America about 1857 and settled in Muskingum County Ohio.
