    1. Re: [STRAUB-L] Zachariah LONG & Mary M. STRAUB in census

    3. Thank you so much, Garry! It was so kind of you to make the effort. I had hoped someone related to this family already had the record, so it wouldn't be too much work, so I doubly appreciate you taking the trouble to find it. And no wonder I couldn't find them with the index at Ancestry.com. Not only are many Trumbull townships missing from the 1840 index at Ancestry.com (as I mentioned in an earlier message), I find that not all Trumbull County townships are indexed in 1850, either -- and, of course, one of the townships not indexed is Braceville. <shrieeek!> So THANK YOU again. And another <shrieeek!> for the fact that, years ago, when I had pulled the 1840 census record of Mary (STRAUB) LONG'S mother, in Southington, Trumbull Co., OH, I had made a note that she was living next to her son-in-law, Zachariah LONG. So I had the information I wanted, all along, if I had just looked Mary's parents' family group sheet. But, again, this was a non-indexed township, which is why I missed it this time around. By the way, finding Zach & Mary is part of a larger effort to find and extract *all* STRAUB/STROUP census records. I've made quite a bit of headway -- with MUCH still to go, of course. The pages can be reached from this hub: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/Straub/Straub-Census.htm If anyone finds errors on these pages, especially if I've made a bad connection, please don't hesitate to contact me and correct me -- I'm not helping people if I put out bad information. The STRAUBs in Trumbull/Mahoning Co., OH, are not my line, at least, I don't think so. My Andrew STRAUB - my GG-grandfather -- settled in Marion Co., OH, in the early 1820s. He was born in 1797 in PA, but I've yet to prove where in PA or to connect him to his parents. I suspect he is a son of Andrew STRAUB, founder of Freeburg, but the evidence is all circumstanial or based on tradition.
