I have just put up two family group sheets you may find interesting. http://grove.ufl.edu/~dianagal/Straub/FGS/_Straub-Mary_.htm http://grove.ufl.edu/~dianagal/Straub/FGS/FrederickWhistlerStroup-HenriettaFord.htm Any data you can add will help to complete the puzzle -- and lead to the next discovery. Now that you know Frederick's siblings, it is worth tracking down all of them. You never know which one may hold just the clue you need to find their father. Since Frederick fought during the Civil War, have you tried to find out if he or his widow applied for a pension? A pension application can be extremely useful.
