    1. Re: [STRAUB-L] The group who settled in Goshen, Clermont Co., Ohio
    2. Dear Gary et all interested in the Goshen, Clermont Co., O. Straup/b Family connections: In answer to your questions written 6-27-99, Garry: Thank you for the information about the fact that it was the custom to give the children two names and the person would be called by the second name rather than as we do today. (ie --Johan Jacob Straub would have been called Jacob. That is very interesting. Now I have just looked on my data base and this is what I have. Jacob Straub and Framey Fryburger had 16 kids according to my records. After looking at the names I see I do not have all of the first names listed but this info. was sent to me from researchers in Clermont Co. several years ago. You asked for the birth date of Andrew---Interesting---I have April 15, 1808 for Andrew Straub and then after looking closely to the other children I see Ellen was born July 11, 1808. Something is nuts here. Someone must be with the wrong family or the 1808 is incorrect. Your guess is as good as mine. I have made notes under these names and hopefully this will be resolved soon. Now about Framey having a second name. She was called Francie in a deed and it was also written as FRANCA (which to me sounds more German)--and in this same record they mention 16 kids. Concerning the Fryburgers: I have mentioned this before to this group and don't think I've had any answers to this one, but some time ago someone from Northumberland Co. sent me a newspaper article that states the fact that Ludwig Fryburger, Framey's father, was Jewish. Did you have any info. about this? Very interesting I think. More in a little while. Ginger in Az.
