    3. Hi fellow subscribers, I'm just back from my summer vacation to North Carolina. On our way back to Ontario we stopped close to where my STRAUB ancestors lived in Pennsylvania. My wife has no interest in genealogy, so I did not spend much time with my distraction. My ancestor, Elizabeth STRAUB was born in 1838 in Frosty Valley, Pine Twp, Columbia County, PA. Her father was Adam, her mother was Mary GRUBER. I was curious because I'd found a STRAUB church listed in Mahoning Twp, Montour County, PA, which is next to Columbia County. Directions are difficult because of the hills, but after getting directions, I think I was going NE from Danville, Montour County, came to a stop sign, turned right onto Frosty Valley Road and the STRAUB Lutheran Church was immediately on my right. The church is still being used, it was built in the 1840's, I don't know if it is the original structure, the pastor lives across the road, but both buildings were locked, so I couldn't ask questions. There aren't many older gravestones. The only STRAUB connection I found was of Henry STROUP d. 1-26-1873 aged 68 years, 11 months, 28 days and his wife Lydia d. 2-22-1869 aged 59 years, 5 months, 18 days. I don't know anything else about this Henry. In the 1820 census for Mahoning Twp, there's an Adam STRAUB b. about 1775 and a Joseph STRAUB b. between 1776-1794. Adam is still listed in the 1830 census but Jospeh is not. Among the older gravestones are the families BROBST (from Lehigh County), and SIDLER (Maybe SEIDLER or SITTLER). If anyone has more information on these people I would be most pleased to receive it. Garry
