Looking for information on parents & siblings of gr-gr-grandfather JACOB STRAUB, b.Mar.13, 1825 in Thurgau, Thuregurek Canton, Switzerland. He married Anna Maria HAAS of Neufschattel, Canton BERN, Switzerland in Switzerland on May 20, 1850. He & his wife left Switzerland in 1854, stopping in Paris, France for the birth of their first child Maria Louisa STRAUB in 1854. By 1856 he, his wife, and daughter had reached New Orleans,LA. They moved on to Highland, IL, and then to St. Louis, MO, where he settled & became a tailor. In Switzerland, Jacob's grandfather was supposed to be a mayor & captain in Thurgau and had a dairy farm with a stream running through it? Does any of this sound familiar to anyone out there??? My questions: who were Jacob STRAUB's parents and grandparents? Did Jacob STRAUB have brothers and sisters? Did any of them also come to America? When? Where did they settle?
