    1. [STRAUB-L] TROUP -- are they STROUP?

    3. I'm asking this because we do have one *known* case of STROUP becoming TROUP... I'm currently extracting all the census data on STRAUB/&c. from the censuses of PA, concentrating today on Snyder Co. I came across these TROUPs in 1840 in Perry Twp., Union [now Snyder] Co.: 1840 PA Union Co. Perry Twp. p. 391 Troup John (P. son) 020 001 - 000 010 Troup Peter 100 001 - 100 001 Troup John 100 010 - 110 010 Troup Peter Jr 011 110 010 - 112 100 100 Troup John (J. son) 100 001 010 - 111 010 000 Does anyone have any idea whether any of these are or are suspected of being STROUPs/STRAUBs? The other STROUP/STRAUBs in Perry Twp. in 1840 are Daniel STRAUB Sr. (wife Barbara __?__), Daniel STRAUB Jr. (wife Elizabeth HAHN), and John STRAUB (wife Elizabeth STEELEY). For those of you who may not have been to these pages at my web site, I have extracted all STRAUB/&c. from the 1790-1850 censuses for all of PA. Much of this work was done by Jim Burell back in 1999, and I have been adding to it. For the years 1790-1840, the pages function as an index to heads-of-households. The 1850 page goes further because it is an *every-name* index to STRAUB/&c. for all of PA. My goal is to identify each of these households, from 1790 to 1850 (and beyond), linking them to their family group sheets. Anyway the hub to link to the pages is at: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/Straub-Census.htm Anytime connections you can make, from one year to the next, that I don't have, would be great.
