    3. According to a niece in MN, her Great Great Uncle Daniel Straub, youngest son of Elizabeth Steeley Straub Bay, moved to a town near LeSueur, MN, in 1857. And Daniel's brother John followed in 1865. She states that she has papers from her Great Grandfather John Straub, Jr. and family legend that supports the information. I do not have any documented evidence on this, but it does follow what I have heard from my relatives ( who are all now deceased). 3. To further substantiate Shirley Morton's October email below, claiming verbal family history shows Daniel Straub moving from PA to LeSeuer Co.MN-- My Emmaline/Emeline Straub (b 16 Nov 1824 or 1829 Bloomsburg, Columbia Co., PA) m. John Peter Stecker and they also moved from PA to MN. Their son was John Jacob Stecker(m Rebecca Bailey) and his daughter Winona Stecker married my grandfather John Chapman in LeSeuer Co., MN. I also have a family letter documenting Emmaline/Emeline Straub Stecker's husband John Peter Stecker was murdered at Cannon Lake MN for money from the sale of his cattle (or land). Sorry I have been out of town several times and am just getting caught up on Straub stuff. Hope this help someone, Diana Chapman Owen Shirley Morton wrote: > According to a niece in MN, her Great Great Uncle Daniel Straub, youngest > son of Elizabeth Steeley Straub Bay, moved to a town near LeSueur, MN, in > 1857. 3. There must have been two Daniel Straubs who lived in that area of Union County and married an Elizabeth Hahn, because the dates that I have are born in 1822 and I have no date for his death. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana Gale Matthiesen" <DianaGM@dgmweb.net> To: <STRAUB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 22, 2001 3:47 PM Subject: [[STRAUB]] Daniel STRAUB, h/o Elizabeth HAHN > Did anyone ever identify the parents of the Daniel STRAUB (1784/5-1865) who > married Elizabeth HAHN, the one who lived in West Perry Twp., Union>Snyder > Co., PA? > > Diana > > > ============================== > Visit Ancestry.com for a FREE 14-Day Trial and enjoy access to the #1 > Source for Family History Online. 3. Hello Shirley, We have more than just two Daniels to keep straight!! And I'm trying to reply to two posts at once, so I hope I can keep straight. And one reason for my confusion is that I thought I replied already, but there is no reply in my "Sent" folder nor did it come back to me from the list. I must have written a draft and forgotten to send it, and now I've lost it. If this message is a repeat, please excuse me, this has been a very hectic four days having made what is, for me, a breakthrough in my STRAUB genealogy -- thanks to a magic mix of information from Matthew Friend and Nancy Holben, at long last helping me find the Pennsylvania county origin of the Delaware/Marion/Hancock Co., Ohio, STRAUBs. Shirley Morton wrote: > > There must have been two Daniel Straubs who lived in that area of Union > County and married an Elizabeth Hahn, because the dates that I have are born > in 1822 and I have no date for his death. In early Northumberland>Union>Snyder Co., PA, there was Daniel STRAUB Sr. (1784/5-1865), who married Elizabeth HAHN, and his son, Daniel STRAUB Jr. (c1805-?), who married Barbara __?__. The one born in 1822 is a different Daniel STRAUB. I also show this Daniel STRAUB (b. 1821/2) as the son of John STRAUB & Elizabeth STEELEY. I have a family group sheet at: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/FGS/JohnStraub-ElizabethSteeley.htm It was finding out the Widow Elizabeth (STEELEY) STRAUB had married a BAY that allowed me to find her (and Daniel) in the 1850 Census, which record is now on their family group sheet. Thank you for the help, Shirley. Diana
