    1. [STRAUB-L] STRAUB of Marion/Fairfield/Hancock Cos. OH
    2. Diana Gale Matthiesen
    3. This is a bit convoluted, but for those (few) of us working on the STRAUBs who came to Delaware/Marion Co., OH, ca. the early 1820s -- and who are desperate for the least tid-bit of information or clue... George Washington STRAUB (1846-1927) was a son of Andrew S. STRAUB (1797-1858). George married Sarah E. CORBIN (1848-1888), who was the sister of Martha Ann CORBIN (1838/9-1910). Martha married Israel BENSLEY (1831-1880), son of James BENSLEY & Catharine POPE. Israel's brother, Fredrick/Frederick BENSLEY (1825-1889), died in Allegan Co., MI. Benjamin STRAUB (1802-1873), presumed brother of Andrew S. STRAUB, also died in Allegan Co., MI. Is the Allegan Co. location mere coincidence? Or are there other connections between these families? James BENSLEY (1790s-1878) & Catharine POPE (1790s-1878) were married 11 Oct 1816, Washington Co., OH, but they were born in PA. We probably should be on the lookout for BENSLEY (or POPE) ca. the 1790s to 1820s in the vicinity of Northumberland/Union [now Snyder] Co., where these STRAUBs are strongly suspected to have lived before coming to Ohio.
