As some of you know, I've been gradually putting STRAUB/STROUP/etc. census records online at my web site: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/Straub/StraubHome.htm Years 1790 to 1850 for PA have been online for some time, but later years have been slow in coming. I have recently finished adding the index entries for PA in 1860 and 1900, which are now complete. That is, I've extracted all the STRAUB/STROUP names from the indices, as the first step. The next step is to extract the full records. Only 1850 is complete in this regard. The advantage of having a full extraction on one web page is that it can function as an every-name index if used in combination with your browser's Find feature. For example, if you have a Sophia STROUP born in 1845 in PA and you don't know her parents, check the 1850 page for a Sophia five years old. Doesn't alway work because the records are both inexact and incomplete, but it beats a head-of-household index any day. I have begun extracting the full records for 1860, and these counties are either finished or nearly finished: Carbon, Centre, Columbia, Delaware, Erie, Juniata, Snyder, and Susquehanna, plus scattered records for other counties. I have indexes to only six counties in 1870: Allegheny, Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Luzerne/Lackawanna. The index entries are on the web page. I've completed a full extraction of Washington Township, Snyder County in 1870. I've been doing some "remodeling" of the census pages, so things are bit "rough." Rather than waiting til things are "polished up," I wanted you to know that I've completed the extraction of the index entries for 1860 and 1900. I've also added a new feature I call "Timeline Tables." I'm finding these very helpful for "sorting things out." I've begun tables for PA, OH, and MI.
