I hope some one can help. I found my Straub family in the Ohio 1880 census. So I tried to find them in 1870 - no luck. I have tried so many search routines on Ancestry.com I can't tell what I'm looking at. Anyway, I'm looking for Catherine(Kate)mother b.1838 Ohio, Husband unknown, Charles J. b.8/1860 Ohio or Ky, Mollie b.1863, Lizzie b.1867, and possibly Mattie b.1870. Kate's husband died (or left?) sometime after 1876. Could Straub be Kate's maiden name? Any help would be great. Where were they in 1880, Doug? What was Kate's married name? Who was the head-of-household? It would help if I could look up their 1880 record, too.
