Doug, If Charles was age 19 in 1880, it's unlikely you will find him in the 1860 census, making the 1870 census record crucial. Unfortunately, I don't have an index to the 1870 census of OH. However, you're in luck because this family is in the Pedigree Resource File online at the LDS site: http://familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp I found the file by doing a search on Charles Straub birth: 1861 year: exact It appears your "Kate" is Catherine E. HANSELMAN, b. 1838 in Franklin Twp., Brown Co., OH, the daughter of Charles HANSELMAN and Christian HERZOG. Catharine's parents were both born in Wuerttemberg, Germany. Catherine married 21 Aug 1860 to George STRAUB, born in Rheinpfalz, Germany, son of Jacob STRAUB, so it appears Charles is their first born. This file has nothing more on George, but traces Catharine's ancestry back further. I won't bother to give more, here, as you can pick it up at the LDS site. You will obviously want to get in touch with the submitter of that file. I've created a family group sheet for them at: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/FGS/GeorgeStraub-CatherineEHanselman.htm Diana Doug Schaefer wrote: > > Thanks all for the help.
