Matthew, I found the 1870 census record of your John George STRAUB (Jr.). It clears up most of the ambiguity regarding the childrens' names. There is an Ann BEIGHDOL, age 14, living with Daniel & Catharine BEIGHDOL, Centre Co. They are the only BEIGHDOLS in the county. There are many other variations of the name (viz., BECHDEL, BECHDOL, BECHTOL, BECKDEL, BECTOL, BEICHDOL) in the county. I checked all of them -- at least, all the ones I recognized as a variation of BEIGHTOL -- and none had an Ann even close to the right age.
