    3. I think it's way kewl, Matthew! Among other things, it shows you never know what miniscule clue will turn out to be your biggest breakthrough... Item 1: Yes, in 1872, Ann and J. Allen (b. 1868-69) were toddlers and too young to go to school. Item 2: It gives us A. Etta's first name: Amelia, which changes the URL to her family group sheet to: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/FGS/JamesAWest-AmeliaEttaStraub.htm Item 3: It tells us George has more children than we knew about. Most importantly, it gives us the names of the three eldest children: James, William, and George, and these children -- born before 1860 -- identify which George STRAUB is their father in the 1860 census! In the 1860 census of Centre Co., PA, there is a George STROUP with wife, Anna, and three sons: James, William, and George. So now we have A. BEIGHTOL's first name, birthyear, and birthplace, namely: Anna, b. 1834/5, PA. This knowledge changes the URL of their family group sheet to: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/FGS/GeorgeStroup-AnnaBeightol.htm And as we know the father of this George STROUP is (John) George STROUP, also of Centre Co., PA, we are back another generation. Unfortunately, I do not know the wife or parents of this (John) George STRAUB/STROUP, who was born 1799/1800 in PA. He had daughters named Lydia and Amelia, which supports the connection to your George, who also had daughters named Lydia and Amelia. Mitchell, director, showed nine boys and sixteen girls of school age, with eleven boys and twelve girls actually attending school in that district. One hundred and twenty days of school were taught by John Harrison and Mrs. Jenny Sweet, each teaching one-half term. The school house cost $1,790 to build, repairs $4 and rent $15 were shown also for that year. Fuel was $24.90, and $210 was paid to the teachers. > The families then residing in the district, with children of school age were: > > Wallace Spirk (Cora, Mary, Florence) > W. Farr (Earnest) > C.L.
