I would like to see if anyone has any information on my great grandparents George and A. Beightol STRAUB. The information I have on them is rather limited but enough to link them to the original STRAUB in Pennsylvania. George STRAUB b: 1834 in Pennsylvania d: unknown A. BEIGHTOL b: Abt 1842 in Wyoming d: unknown (It is to believe that the A. stands for Alcinons for their daughter named of her daughter this name) They have Ida M. STRAUB who married John F. FRIEND in 1880 in Hall County, Nebraska. I don't know if there were other children of George and A. STRAUB. This is what my mission is to find this out. I am waiting on the 1880 Census Index from the LDS church at my local Family History Center to see the WHOLE family moved to Nebraska or if Ida STRAUB was the only one. I have George's parents as Jacob and Hannah GORDON STRAUB. If anyone could be of help here it would be of great help in my research. Matthew D. Friend. In case there are any of you who haven't found it yet, I maintain a STRAUB web site at: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/6/Straub/StraubHome.htm Currently, there are about 475 family group sheets and many pages of census and other data at the site. Everything I have is at the web site. I have no further information beyond what is already online. The site has every-name indices to the family group sheets plus a powerful search engine. Good hunting, Diana

Good morning, I am searching for a Mary Straub that lived on Cherryhill Road in Wheeling West Virginia. She had a son Charles that died maybe at an early age. She had two daughters. Sara married Dr. William H. Hayes and lived in Bridgeport, Ohio. Doretha married Chester Bertschey and lived at 624 Main St. in Wheeling. Does anybody have these names in their families? I am looking for anyone who might have information on Rosa Katherine Straub Baldauf (my grandmother). She was born on December 24, 1871, in Germany . She died on September 2, 1953, in New Albany, Indiana Floyd, CO. She was married to Michael Baldauf in Germany and they moved to Chicago, IL. Somewhere around 1901 or 1902. She had a son named Carl Baldauf born April 29, 1892. And I was told that Carl might have a sister, don't really know any thing on the girl. I don't know for sure if Carl is Michael Baldauf's son. Together Rosa and Michael had five sons and 2 daughters. Anyone think there is a connection, I have more information. I will be waiting for a hopeful connection. Thanks Ruth Baldauf Chumley
Good morning to you to Barbara, I have a Joseph W. Stroup, born about 1843 in Ohio. The family was in Ohio in 1850 and moved to Pike County, Missouri about 1852-53. I have not been able to trace my Joseph W. Stroup. Do you suppose we have the same person? I have his parents, brothers and sisters and some info on them in Missouri, so let me know what you think. Hi Guys, I am still looking for parents and siblings of my John Straub (don't know middle initial or name) who was supposedly born in Bavaria, Germany. My cousin told me he was told by our grandfather that gggrandfather John was a sea captain from the Netherlands and we are Dutch. My John and wife, Wilhelmina Schroeder Straub, are in St. Bernard (Cincinnati) Hamilton Co, OH by 1858 when their first child (my ggrandfather was born) and they had four more children and raised them in St. Bernard. They belonged to Wilson Memorial Presbyterian Church (I wish someone would transcribe Wilson Memorial's records and put them online) and they are all buried in Spring Grove Cemetery. Am also looking for parents and siblings of Wilhelmina Scroeder Straub. I often wonder if they were in PA before coming to OH. John was born 1829 in Germany and died 1889 in St. Bernard. My daughter scanned some Straub photos for me that I can send as email attachments if anyone is interested. By process of elimination, I have picked out photos that I believe are John and Wilhelmina. There is a photo of my ggrandfather, John William Straub and ggrandmother, Katie Marie Schwartz Straub, with several other people around a tattered looking sailboat, dry docked, named "Fairy". All the people look sad and I am wondering what the occasion is. No date on the photo. Another photo is a group of men, including my g uncle, Edward C. Straub, in front of Wilson Memorial. Taken before 1919. Another group photo is of the Erkenbrecher Starch Works and the employees - don't have a date. Also a group photo of men in uniform belonging to the Republican Club of St. Bernard with their famous cannon "Lady Garfield" - don't have a date. My ggrandfather, John William Straub is in this one, but don't know any of the others. I would be glad to email these to anyone interested. Have a good day! Janine in Chattanooga
Hi Jim, Thank you for your information about the Susquehanna STRAUBS. I have not heard the name of your patriarch Andrew STRAUB before. All your comments will be helpful information on what I can see, will continue to be an arduous journey for ancestors of John P. Straub. His dau. Emmaline Straub married John (Jacob) Peter Stecker b 1822 Hemlock Twp, PA. I am not sure where that is (or was) in PA, but somehow he met Emmaline Straub, b Bloomsburg, Columbia, PA. Last week I was grateful to make a connection back to several generations of Stecker ancestors and then thru LDS, the lineage was further well documented way back, in Northampton (Co.) PA and then also into Germany. This info must have been acquired thru church records, as every christening place/date and burial place/date was incredibly well documented. Wish it was the same for the STRAUBS ! :) I recently met another Chapman thru email because our GGGrfathers migrated to No Stockholm NY, but we had to go back ten generations to tie our families to the same Chapman GGrfather, but we were each descended from a different wife. Amazing! Eventually, you may find something similar about the two different Mifflin County STRAUB lines. I have seen the name Straub so seldom in my life. Other than genealogy, I have only seen "Straub" once attached to a microbrewery at an antique mall near Lancaster PA. But that may be because I have only lived up and down the west coast. Thank you so much for taking the time and filling me in on what has transpired on the Straub-List in the past few years. I will try not to reinvent the Straub-wheel :) Good luck to all of us Straubs in our gen. research, Diana jeem@uswest.net wrote: > Diana, I think one of the issues is that there were a relatively large number of > Straubs. Okay...here's another one to see if anyone is out there! In 1870, in Jefferson Co., MO, Jasper Eoff married Margaret Stroup. She must have died shortly , as he married again in 1879. To add a bit of confusion to the mix, their marriage record shows him as: JOSEPH OAF (that's the pronunciation of EOFF) and her as MARY STROUPP. There were a bunch of Stroups in Jefferson Co., but no missing Marys OR Margarets. All suggestions greatfully received! Jerri Eoff Sudderth
