She was born July 21, 1934, in Tupper Lake, the daughter of Dorise Roy and Amilia Mary (Mallette) Sears. She graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1952. Jean had been married to Richard Arthur Yando. They made their home and raised their family in Tupper Lake. She had worked as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital and as a waitress at Bob's Steakhouse. On Sept. 21, 1987, she and Paul Leo Strack of Tupper Lake were married at the Christian Center in Tupper Lake. They enjoyed traveling and visiting their families. They also enjoyed playing pinochle. Their Christian faith was an important part of their life together. They were very active with the Christian Center. She is survived by her husband, Paul Strack of Tupper Lake; her children, David Yando of Tacoma, Wash., Donald Yando and his wife Christal of Vermontville, Julie Miner and her husband Mark of West Chazy, Mary Dupras and her husband Robert of Morrisonville; Paula Manning and her husband Dave of Gansevoort and Brent Yando of Orlando. Fla.; her step-children, Lawrence Strack of Middleburgh, Theresa Malloy and her husband Howard of Bedford, N.H., Shyamala Strack of Atlanta, Ga., Sheila Poirier and her husband Curtis of Glens Falls, Jeffrey Strack of Glens Falls, Tracy Strack and his wife Greta of Virginia Beach, Va.; 28 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Sears and his wife Lenora of Fall Brook, Calif., Roy Sears and his wife Marlena of Sandwich, Ill.; two sisters, Denise Thall of Sandwich, Ill., and Pauline Brooks and her husband James of Tupper Lake and Flordia; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Mr. Yando; and a grandson and his wife, Jarrod and Michelle Yando. Friends may call at the Christian Center in Tupper Lake on Tuesday evening, April 25, 2006, from 7-9 p.m. and also Wednesday morning, April 26, 2006, beginning at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Boyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Center in care of the Richer Funeral Home, 29 Park St., Tupper Lake, NY 12996.
